Hardback. Six uniform volumes quarter bound in leather with marbled paper to boards. Each spine with raised bands and six compartments: four decorated in gilt and the remain compartment with a red label and a green label and gilt titles. Five volumes published in 1884 and one, Alton Locke, in 1885. Alton Locke also has a black and white frontis portrait and a prefatory memoir by Thomas Hughes. Each volume has a new plain endpaper and is sound and tight. Marbled to all edges. Leather is slight rubbed with some minor scuffs. Paper covered boards have some edge wear with some exposed board to the very edges. Some toning to the prelims; text is otherwise clean and crisp.
