Charles Parker, 1799 - 1881, architect ... importantly he published his Villa Rustica selected from the buildings and scenes in the vicinity of Rome and Florence and arranged for rural and domestic dwellings with plans and details (1832, 2nd edn. 1848) in which descriptions accompany a series of carefully detailed plates. Villa Rustica was influential in the continued development of Italianate domestic architecture in nineteenth century England, in offering illustrations of and practical guidance on the adaption of Italian villa forms to contemporary use and the English climate' - extracted from D.N.B.
