Book Description

Two Royal Mail posters 32" x 22" mounted on board (presumably as issued), King's Cross caries the reference DNS MM/76 and Hampstead Heath caries the reference DNS/N/82. Some damp staining to the margin of Hampstead Heath, King's Cross in excellent condition both with bumped corners. From a large collection of similar posters I acquired recently. Priced at £100 each. Reginald Montague Lander (1913 – 1980) was a freelance commercial artist who was the chief designer and studio manager at design agency Ralph Mott from 1930 to 1939. He was a well-known poster artist and designed posters for the railway companies as well as the Post Office. Less well known was Imre Hofbauer (1905 - 1989), a Kosovan who came to London in the 1930s and made his home there after the war. He designed posters for London Transport as well as a number for the Post Office.
