Training Manual, Royal Flying Corps Part II (Military Wing) (Provisional)

Part II came out very shortly after Part I and is the first to carry the title 'Military Wing'. Part I had a more general overview and Part II contains the greater specifics of military combat.
This book is almost certainly the first English language volume dealing with the tactical doctrine for the employment of (Royal Flying Corps) aircraft in wartime. In modern parlance it is the first British book of Air Power Doctrine. Written largely by Lt Col Frederick Sykes (arguably the father of the Royal Flying Corps), it was published in early 1914, even before the British Declaration of War on Germany. It is a remarkable book, not only because its guidance is based only on observation of a very few pre-war exercises involving aircraft (the RFC only formed its first fixed-wing squadron in late 1912) but also because much of its content would still be recognisable to a modern military pilot.
Extremely scarce.
