4to. First edition. Original illustrated paper boards. Printed by W. S. Cowell, Ltd. 45 illustrations by Edward Ardizzone, including title page vignette, 18 watercolours and 26 pen drawings. Signed in black ink, ‘Edward Ardizzone’ and with the bookplate of Andrew Murray on the flyleaf. Unclipped d/w has an OUP sticker giving the price in decimal and has a clear acetate cover fixed along the top and bottom edges of the verso. This may be removable. Fine in near fine d/w.
Dealer Notes
The Captain won’t allow dogs on board so he must be imagining Tim’s friend Towser. A lovely copy and signed by the author/illustrator.
