Dealer Notes
At the time, a picture book intended for young children was a new venture for Thomas Nelson and Sons. Ballantyne at this stage was gaining a good reputation as a writer of adventure stories for older boys, so Nelson decided to hide his identity using the pseudonym of Comus. However, this picture book was such a huge success, and Ballantyne had become so incredibly popular after the publication of “Coral Island” the pseudonym was discontinued in 1860. Quayle: Ballantyne
