Riding on the huge success of Little Black Sambo [published in 1899], and Little Black Mingo [1901] this is the 3rd book in the series by Helen Bannerman. Little Black Mingo’s mother is very unwell and the doctor tells him to find her 20 mangoes to eat a day – this is the story of his quest. 143 pages, 36 colour pictures, text and illustrations printed on single sides. Occasional marks mainly at margins, endpapers cracked at hinges and first few leaves loose at lower half, but rest of binding firm. 132 x 95 mm [approx 5 ¼” x 3 ¾”] green cloth titled in red and with illustration of Little Black Quibba eating a ripe mango. Spine is sunned, a few small marks and points of wear else generally very good condition. London, James Nisbet & Co, [1902] 1st edition.
