London: George Allen & Unwin Ltd 1923. some light foxing on edges, small piece missing from bottom of last page (not affect text), otherwise a Very Good copy indeed; in Very Good jacket which is darkened on, and missing small piece from top of, spine. Uncommon to find in dustjacket.

Edward Carpenter was an English utopian socialist, poet, philosopher, anthologist, an early activist for gay rights and prison reform whilst advocating vegetarianism and taking a stance against vivisection. An early advocate of sexual liberation, he had an influence on D. H. Lawrence and inspired E. M. Forster's novel Maurice.
