Book Description

Published in London in 1744, this is a nice early edition of “The Spectator” complete in Eight Volumes, bound in full vellum bindings, 6.5 inches tall approx., this set originally belonged to John Caley with his armorial bookplates to front pastedowns and signature to title pages. this is probably John Caley FSA (1760–1834) who was an English archivist and antiquary. He worked in the record office in The Tower of London, The bindings are in good solid condition, but the vellum has yellowed and is discoloured on the boards, slight loss to one of the spine title labels, internally the expected foxing and browning, else contents are in good general condition
