Book Description

8vo. 3 volumes, set. Reprints. First published in 1941. Original green buckram, gilt. Ink inscriptions on front endpapers. Occasional pencil marks in the margins throughout to highlight passages. Near fine.
Dealer Notes
Uncommon. Most sets went to libraries. The former owner has written on the front paste down: “Monumental, one of the great achievements of historiography. Its wealth of learning is dicreetly confined to the Notes, & the interested general reader need not hesitate to approach this work. Its lavish & carefully chosen illustrations are the best companion to any reading on the Hellenistic period.” I hope he was well paid for this!
