Light toning to the text-block with some mild offsetting to the blank end-papers. The scarce WRAPPER is complete and is in near Fine condition. which is slightly darkened to the spine but has only the mildest of edge-wear. It retains the correct price of $1 to the upper front flap. Light age related markings in places. The wrapper looks very striking n the removable Brodart archival cover. The colour frontis (retains the original tissue guard which is a little creased and toned) and B/W illustrations throughout are by the author. Inscribed by the author in the year of publication, on the front blank end-paper : ' To, I. Pulis Lathrop, who has painted mice too - with much love from her daughter, Dorothy P. Lathrop, Sept. 6, 1934'. Dorothy Lathrop came from a family of artistic women: Her mother was a painter, her sister Gertrude K. Lathrop was known for her animal sculptures. Dorothy herself wrote and illustrated numerous books, usually centred around animals or fairy tales. A very scarce title with such attributes.
