Book Description

The First UK printing published by Methuen, London in 1982. The BOOK is in Very Good++ or better condition with light pushing at the spine tips and a slight lean. Light toning to the text-block and page edges due to the quality of the paper stock used. The WRAPPER is complete and is in near Fine condition with some very light pushing at the spine tips and a little light toning to the spine. Some very tiny occasional spots to the flaps. The wrapper is protected in a removable Brodart archival cover. The book has been inscribed and signed by the author to the title page : 'To Barbara, with very best wishes, Sue Townsend, Boxing Day 1982'. The recipient's name is neatly penned and dated to the upper front blank end-paper. B/W line drawings throughout by Caroline Holden. The scarce first title in the acclaimed series and included on the BBC News list of the '100 most influential novels'. Successfully adapted for Radio, TV and stage. Some loose press cuttings regarding the author accompany this title. Very uncommon to find signed.
