Book Description

A 2 Volume set : The First UK printings published by Martin Secker in 1927. Translated by H.T. Lowe-Porter. Both BOOKS are in near Fine condition and appear unread. A hint of pushing at the spine tips. Slight fading of the spine end tips reproducing the similar loss on the wrapper spines. A little dustiness to the upper text-block otherwise a sharp set, being free from inscriptions and erasures. The WRAPPERS are the original correct issue and are in near Fine condition. A little toning to the spines and slight loss at the spine ends. A little minor markings to the spines. Some splitting of the front spine fold to Volume 1 wrapper. Both the wrappers look very striking in the removable Brodart archival covers. Housed in the original publisher's slipcase which is in Very Good condition and is a little rubbed and marked in places. The original publisher's label is present to the slipcase spine and is only very slightly rubbed. First published in Germany in November 1924. It is widely considered to be one of the most influential works of 20th century German literature. Mann went on to win the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1929. A very scarce set with such attributes. At the time of listing the only available set as such on the market. Collectible.
