Book Description

1st English Language Edition, 1st Impression. 13.3 x 20.4 cm red boards with gilt stamped titles to the spine 192pp, in a 2nd state jacket (being the 1st state jacket clipped of its 10/6 price and with a 12/6 net price added at the bottom of the front flap). The book has been well protected by its dust jacket and is clean, with firm sharp corners and bright titles. Internally there is no name inscription or bookplate and the book appears unread. There is the merest hint of toning on the free endpapers where the jacket does not reach. The dust jacket, which is now protected in a removable clear cover (not shown in our images), is in excellent condition. The colours are bright and there is just a touch of marking to the rear panel. There is a short tear of 8mm running up from the bottom of the front joint and a faint tape mark (but no tape) on the verso of the jacket at the foot of the spine that extends onto the bottom edge of the front panel but that is barely discernible. All in all a fabulous looking book that was the basis for the 1958 film ‘Vertigo’ directed by Alfred Hitchcock and staring James Stewart and Kim Novak.
