The copy of Sir Norman Lamont, 2nd Baronet (7 September 1869 – 3 September 1949) a Scottish Liberal Party politician and a recognised authority on agriculture. His Knockdow estate bookplate to front pastedown, and signature dated 7 Dec. 1898 to front endpaper. Lamont was descended from Judge Jeffreys and the second front endpaper bears an outline genealogy in his hand showing the line of descent. Tipped in at the rear is a letter from the author – better known as actor/manager Henry Irving, than legal expert and author - to Lamont, on Garrick Club headed note paper, with two newspaper cuttings affixed to the rear endpaper. An interesting association copy.
