A fascinating collection of recipes and suggestions for meals for the “newcomers to the colony, to young and inexperienced householders, and to bachelor settlers…who must often find themselves obliged to put up with the incompetency on the part of untrained native cooks or houseboys.” In addition to these topics the book also contains a list of suggestions on things to take on safari, laundry, toilet and gardening tips and sections on how to give orders to servants in Swahili and Kikuyu. The contents and binding are in Good to Vg condition, the covers have some minor age stains and signs of use.
