Book Description
Bound in full leather, using original tree calf boards and rebacked in calf. Titles are gilt tooled with gilt tooled date to base of spine. Repair to corner, some bumping. [4], iv, 1-360, (13 unnumbered pages including first page of index), 370-380. Index is shorter in all later editions and other 1813 printing, presumed first printing. Frontispiece is not included in this edition or copy in Oxford University. Both have one plate. Soiling and repair to title page, else very good condition. Enormous variety of subjects be it making blancmange with isinglass, calculating the window tax or checking for chalk in the flour. Part I is dedicated to recipes, Part II to Health and the Sickroom, Part III some recipes and anything from cement to bees. All editions scarce, this 1813 printing is rare.
