Book Description

The Holcombe Hunt compiled by Arthur N. Walker (Manchester: Sherratt & Hughes, 1937 | printed at The Saint Ann’s Press). Hardback. Gold cloth spine and leather title labels; red cloth boards with gilt decoration to front; gilt to top edge of page-block; pages untrimmed to fore-edge and bottom edge. pp 170, [2] blank, b/w plates including one fold-out, line drawings in the text. Size: 12.75 x 10.25 inches approx. (323mm x 264mm). Cloth a little rubbed and worn to extremities; scratched to upper front board across spine cloth and into red cloth; a touch dusty and marked in places; boards lightly bumped to upper corner; a little bumped and worn to spine ends; spine labels worn and scuffed, especially to footer. Pages generally clean but with with sporadic foxing throughout, heavy in places but mainly to first few and final pages. Overall, showing some wear but otherwise a nice, clean copy – quite handsome.
