First edn, London, Longmans, 1870. Tall 8vo, x, 181p, 2p ads. Frontispiece & 2 folding maps with route marked in red. Neatly rebacked, new endpapers at some time, slight wear to rear edge, maps small neat repair, else VG clean copy. Neate G30 'Probably less than 100 copies. Rev Girdlestone was an enthusiastic but inept climber who had a number of lucky escapes. The Alpine Club hold his unpublished letters, some of which tell of his involvement with the Matterhorn tragedy'. Perret 1947 'Important et rare'.
