Book Description

Dean & Son Ltd., for the Great Western Railway, London, [1924], 16pp, 11" x 8.5", illustrated card covers, 18 completed pictures with blank outlines to copy. In fine condition, with a hint of wear (no child's paint brush has been anywhere near it) and a small inscription at the top of the first page. Although the inscription neatly dates it to 1924, it was not actually advertised by the GWR until the December 1925 issue of the Great Western Railway Magazine. Even then it was incorrectly referred to as 'All About Railways' although this was corrected for the advertising in the 1926 and 1927 editions of 'The Literature of Locomotion'. A spectacular and exceptional piece of GWR publicity - this is only the fourth example I have seen in over 25 years.
