The book is firmly bound in the publisher's clean red cloth lettered in gilt, the extremities are slightly bumped and rubbed. The text block is slightly foxed and heavily age browned with a neatly written name and date to the front endpaper. The dust jacket is the original and not price clipped, it is somewhat grubby, rubbed and toned with minor loss and closed tears to the edges, it is split about half-way up the front flap, where the progress of the split has been halted by a small, judiciously applied piece of tape to the reverse. A rare early novel from publishing legend, George Landsborough featuring the wise-cracking, perpetually self-referential Joe P. Heggy("And I had brought them back to the scene of their vandalism! Oh, innocent Joseph Phineas Heggy! But I hadn't time to indulge in mental woe. Other things were pressing. A bit more of that pressure, in fact, and J.P.H. would have been represented by a long tube of boneless pulp.") once more embroiled in his world of treacherous gals and primitive troglodyte thugs. An early Panther hardback novel and quite a rare survival, most having gone to libraries.
