Vol. 1. Half title, title, dedication, Contents, Preface [i – xlviii.] B – Ii8 , 1 to 495pp, as called for. Containing plates 1 to 5, two of which are folding, plus fold out table opposite page 404. Contents clean and crisp, front board a little tender, corners bumped else vg.
Vol. 2. Title, Contents [iv] B – Nn8, 1 to 560pp, as called for. Containing plates 6 to 20, 9 of which are folding but plates 19 & 20 are infact on one sheet. Contents clean and crisp, crack down spine but still firm, extremities bumped else vg.
Vol. 3. Title, Contents [iv] B – Ii2, 483pp. Plates 21 to 27, 5 of which are folding. Contents crisp and clean but with tears to pages 27/28, 29/30, and 43/44 , 45/46 with no loss of text, else vg.
Vol. 4. Title, Contents, [iv] B – Ll6, 1 to 523pp as called for, + Adverts given as Mm [iv] with an announcement and then 3 pages of advertisement for other works, last page of adverts often missing, making 4pp in total. Plates 28 and a folding additional plate, not numbered, given as Appendix vol. 4 page 480.
So there are a total of 28 numbered plates, although two are on one sheet these being 19 & 20, then there is an additional folding plate, not numbered and given as Appendix sheet. There are 17 folding plates and 1 folding table.
All volumes have a later book plate of Edward Croker in pale pink with armoreal design in b/w. Calf binding on some volumes worn in places.
