Book Description

NB: No dustjackets. Green cloth with titles in gilt on spines and Thomas Hardy monogram in gilt to front covers of both volumes. Top edges gilt. Condition: Fair, both volumes have shelfwear to covers and light bumping to cover corners and heads and tails of spines. The cloth of the spine on the later volume is split vertically down one side. Bindings sound. Light occasional foxing throughout to both volumes. The previous owners name, Teresa Fetherstonhaugh, is written in ink on the reverse of the front endpaper of both volumes. Teresa Charlotte Fetherstonhaugh (1856-1929) was a friend of Thomas and Emma Hardy's, as well as T.E. Lawrence's cousin. A short undated note from F.E.H. (Florence Emily Hardy) written on Max Gate headed paper is loosely attached to the front endpaper of the first volume.
