THE DEDICATION COPY - THE SIEGE OF PLEASURE

Book Description
THE DEDICATION COPY.
HAMILTON, Patrick The Siege of Pleasure.
Constable, 1928.
1st Edition. Margins browned, old label removed from pastedown, cloth worn and chipped to head of the spine.
For all its condition problems, this is a superb association copy. The printed dedication reads “For Lois”, the presentation inscription reads “For Lois, with love from Disraeli.”
Lois Marie Martin was Hamilton’s first wife whom he married in 1930; this book was written whilst they were courting and Disraeli was the pet name which he used when corresponding with her. This is the second book of the London trilogy “Twenty Thousand Streets Under the Sky.”
