Book Description

A complete set of the First UK Trade Editions of all four 'Winnie-The-Pooh' books. All four titles were published by Methuen & Co., Ltd, London, between 1924-1928. Vol 1: 'When We Were Very Young'. The BOOK is in near Fine condition. Original blue cloth with a hint of pushing at the spine ends. Gilt decoration remains bright. Top edge gilt. The book has the number 'IX' on the table of contents page. Free from inscriptions and erasures. A little offsetting to the end papers. The First Issue WRAPPER is complete and is in Very Good++ or better condition. Some toning to the spine and minor rubbing to the corners. Mild edge-wear at the spine ends. A 3 cm closed tear to the rear lower spine fold and a 2cm closed tear to the lower front flap fold. Mild age related markings. A superior example of a scarce correct first issue wrapper. Loosely inserted is the scarce publisher's flyer for this title. Vol. 2: 'Winnie-The-Pooh'. The BOOK is in near Fine condition. Original green cloth with a just a hint of pushing at the spine ends. Gilt decoration remains bright. Top edge gilt. Free from inscriptions and erasures. Very slight offsetting to the end papers. The First Issue WRAPPER is complete and is in near Fine condition. Very slight toning to the spine and minor rubbing to the spine ends. A small closed tear to the upper spine tip. A superior example of a scarce correct first issue wrapper. Vol. 3: 'Now We Are Six'. The BOOK is in near Fine condition. Original red cloth with just the merest hint of pushing at the spine ends. Gilt decoration remains bright. Top edge gilt. Free from inscriptions and erasures. Very slight offsetting to the title page. The First Issue WRAPPER is complete and is in Very Good++ or better condition. Some toning to the spine, edges and folds. Minimal edge wear with just the tiniest clip to the upper front flap fold corner. A lovely example of a scarce correct first issue wrapper. Vol. 4: 'The House At Pooh Corner'. The BOOK is in near Fine condition. Original salmon cloth with a just a hint of fading at the lower spine tip. Gilt decoration remains bright. Top edge gilt. Free from inscriptions and erasures. Very slight offsetting to the end papers. The First Issue WRAPPER is complete and is in near Fine condition. Minimal rubbing to the spine tips and some very slight dustiness. A superior example of a scarce correct first issue wrapper. All four wrappers are protected in removable Brodart archival covers. A wonderful set of the complete Winnie-The-Pooh titles housed in a custom solander box with a gilt titled leather label to the spine. Extremely scarce to find with such attributes. Collectible.
