A very good, attractive large paper copy in contemporary full calf binding with gilt decoration, raised bands and leather title label. Crisp condition printed on paper with fleur-de-ley watermark. The sixth edition of 1791 which is actually a reprint of the fifth (1786) edition. Two states of the frontispiece with minor scattered foxing. Marbled eps with gilt dentelles. Slight splitting of leather to top of spine, otherwise in sound, crisp condition and a very nice copy of this the first gothic novel.
