Book Description

Hardback. Mis-matched set from different publishers. Previously owned by historian Professor Brian Kemp, his signature to the endpaper of volume three. Volume I contains the ownership signature of Ivor Stewart-Liberty of Lee Manor, nephew and heir to Arthur Lasenby Liberty who founded the famous London store, Liberty and Co. and who had had Lee Manor rebuilt. xv,269pp+201pp+xxvi,262pp. Volumes I and II in cream cloth with the Buckinghamshire swan to the front in gilt and blue titles to spine. The HMSO edition is in blue cloth with gilt titles and has a dustwrapper. Volume I which dates from 1938 is a little grubby to the cloth with some foxing internally. Vol. II is generally very clean to the cream cloth with just a few darker scuff mars to the rear edge of the spine. Volume III is the most recent being published in 1962. Decimal price label to dust wrapper but no indication that this is a reprint. Vol. III is very clean and neat to both book and dust wrapper. Postcard of Missenden Abbey laid in to vol III.
