Book Description

on the 8th April 1946, Barnes Wallis inventor of the Bouncing Bomb which was famously used in the Dambusters raid on the German Mohne and Eder Dams, was invited to a reunion of the Ex-Halton Aircraft Apprentices held at The Royal Agricultural Society’s Old Hall at Vincent Square in London during a conversation with one of the guests Flight Sergeant R. Scott, he was asked how the bouncing bomb worked, Wallis drew a diagram explaining the actions of the bomb on release and when it reached the dam wall, he drew the sketch on the back of Flight Sergeant Scott’s ticket to illustrate this the original ticket with the drawing has here been framed together with a copy of the front of the ticket and a photograph of Barnes Wallis etc, the frame measures 18 inches by 14 inches approx. I have removed the back of the frame and have photographed the reverse of the ticket which is just held in place by corner tabs, so it could be removed with no damage if desired, the pictures used to make up the montage of images in the frame with the ticket have been put together by a former owner using images taken from magazines, fairly amateurishly done but it does look good on a wall
