Dealer Notes
Very early book illustrations by Brian Wildsmith, before his career really took off. His early work as a freelance artist included doing book jackets for Faber, John Murray and the Oxford University Press, and also some line illustrations for OUP. During his time working for OUP, he was invited to supply colour plates for an edition of Arabian Nights and these were very well received and he then embarked on his amazing career providing his fabulous colourful and striking illustrations for generations to enjoy. This book is set in a mining village, near Durham – Brian Wildsmith was himself from a mining village in the north of England.
