Book Description
First edition. 8vo. 6pp. advertisements with this title correctly listed under 7/6 titles. Original orange cloth blocked in black. Dust-jacket correctly priced at 7/6 on spine (see note).
Dealer Notes
An amazing copy of a very scarce book, with no copies in trade and no auction precedent we could locate at the time of cataloguing. Lady Chitty was the wife of Sir Charles Chitty, Chief Justice of India; here she spins out an adventure story starting in India but crossing three continents, revolving around lost jewels and murder (apparently written during retirement in Torquay!).

The dust-jacket bears the correct price of 7/6 on the spine, but the price might have been skilfully integrated from another jacket, as it is slightly cleaner and there is a barely noticeable ridge around the area. Either way, an exceptional example of an extremely rare title.
Author Chitty (Lady [Helen Mary])
Date 1926
Publisher Herbert Jenkins
Condition Some scattered light foxing, but really an exceptional example of the book, bright and clean; dust-jacket with a few very small nicks and closed tears, but overall a VG+ example.

Price: £350.00
