Hardback. 264pp. First edition. A collection of six short stories. It includes the first appearance of 'The Birds,' on which Alfred Hitchcock's film The Birds is based. Also includes: Monte Verita, The Apple Tree, The Little Photographer, Kiss Me Again Stranger, and The Old Man. Dust wrapper illustration by Val Biro. Dark pink boards with gilt titles to spine are very clean but with a hint of fading to edges and very slightly bumped to points. Dust wrapper has some slight loss to spine ends and rubbing and occasional further short tear to the edges. Hint of foxing to closed page edges.
