Book Description

"Here is an honest and careful assessment of the case for personal survival. Psychical research points out the severe difficulties of obtaining conclusive evidence. Survivalists on the other hand consider that ample evidence has already been received. Has there been a sustained effort by discarnate minds to demonstrate the reality of continued existence after death, and to impress the importance of spiritual wisdom upon the Western world? Or is the apparent evidence illusory, and all capable of being produced by unusual and little understood powers within the minds of Iiving people? The problem is, the more difficult because researchers and survivalists often are not looking at the same kind of evidence in the same way, although their fields are overlapping ones. The book attempts to be just to both views, to assess the difficulties found in each, and to indicate the grounds on which the reader can come to his own decision. Paul Beard, who is a member of the Society for Psychical Research, and a Council member of the College of Psychic Science, has spent many years in weighing both types of evidence. The book has a Foreword by Dr. Leslie Weatherhead, who comments: "It is an excellent piece of work and a badly needed contribution to psychical research."
