First Draft, July 25, 1967, Cast & Set list followed by 66 pages of script typed on one side of the paper only, title page pasted on to card and covered in clear plastic to form the front cover, similarly the back cover, removable black plastic slide binder with 'He Walked Among Us' in blue dymo tape. A liitle worn & grubby but generally in pretty good order. This is the well documented 'lost' Star Trek episode - Norman Spinrad wrote two episodes of Star Trek, 'The Doomsday Machine' and 'He Walked Among Us'. 'The Doomsday Machine' was produced and aired but this one was never produced - Gene L Coon turned it into a comedy and Spinrad vetoed its production. For many years the scripts were thought lost, although one or two have since been found. This could be a very interesting item because it is typed (badly!) and is not a copy or a duplicate - if you run your fingers over the back of the pages you can feel the full stops and commas. Perhaps it was one of a few first drafts that were typed & circulated and then lost. As to its provenance, it came to me around 10 years ago along with a number of other Star Trek original series scripts from the 1960s.
Author Spinrad, Norman (teleplay by Norman Spinrad & Gene L Coon)
