Marbled endpapers and all edges marbled. 1876 signature on second free endpapers.

Belgian edition of an account of travels in Lebanon, Syria and Palestine by Alphonse de Lamartine (1790-1869), French writer, poet and politician, who was instrumental in the founding of the Second Republic in 1848. This popular title was first. published in Paris and London in 1835 and subsequently appeared in many later editions. Following the map are names, in Arabic and French and statistics of the tribes and their leaders.
