Book Description
A Handwritten Diary / Description of the Lake District, illustrated with pencil sketches. Belonging to Joseph Hanson, 19 The Shore, Huddersfield. Accounts of a holiday in July 1901, and further visits up to 1906. June 8th 1905 Joseph was married at Oakes Baptist Chapel, Huddersfield. At the back of his book he has drawn sketches of the pictures he bought of the Lake District, where he hung them at home & the prices paid for them. Bound within a Windsor & Newton Sketch Book, linen covers with strap. No pencil. The book is in very good clean condition, no loose or torn pages. Approx 58 pages of handwriting, with m/s title page, 4 full page sketches, 2 within the text & 2 pages sketches of his pictures. A charming detailed account with places visited and transport taken. A place that held great affection and pleasure for him.

Joseph is now living at 2, Armitage Crescent, Lockwood, Huddersfield.
This book has a lovely pencil sketch of the Sunday School, Beckingham, Notts & a holiday to Blackpool, with little pencil sketches and a description of the fairground rides & entertainment, including a woman with two heads.
