Book Description

The Rev Francis Randolph was both business man and theologian. He enjoyed an income from multiple "livings"- held simultaneously-and from his ownership of the enormous 1000 seat Laura Chapel in Bath . He erected the chapel in 1796 when attendance at church was more of a social obligation than today. Some say, Jane Austen who lived nearby may have attended the congregation . Only the stone entrance doorways of the original chapel remain but in this volume we have some of the Sermons preached there including, despite the title , those for Christmas and the New Year. The original covers are now worn and rubbed. Interior gap at front hinge but still firm . Ex Bath Reference Library with their bookplate at front paste down and the name of the Donor.
