Book Description

Walter Crane and others, Routledge’s Picture Book [1870] 32 colour illustrations on linen Illustrated throughout with big colour wood-engravings; pictures for “The Fairy Ship” [white mice sailors] and The Adventures of Puffy” [a Maltese Terrier dog] are by Walter Crane, his rebus of a crane with a W underneath appear on several of the illustrations. The other two stories are “King Grisly Beard”, and “Rumpelstiltskin” These stories were all published separately in the series Routledge’s new sixpenny books, all published in 1870. There is some fingering and marking but all pages intact, colours still lovely and bright. Decorated cloth with titles in gilt and with coloured wood-engraving paste-down on front: neatly re-cased with the original spine laid down, some rubbing and dust-marking but generally very good condition, binding firm. 245 x 190 mm [approx 9 ½” x 7 ½”] George Routledge and Sons [1870]
