Winthrop with the kind regards of his friend & cousin Robt. C. Winthrop." Contains accounts of the eminent persons met by Winthrop in the course of his foreign travels among whom were Michael Faraday; Sir Robert Peel; Sir William Molesworth; the Duke of Wellington; Stanley; Wordsworth; Wilberforce; Browning & the Prince of Wales.

(Charles Winthrop Molesworth Swithinbank, the British glaciologist & polar specialist, was a descendant of Admiral George S Winthrop the cousin of Robert C Winthrop)
