R M Ballantyne Post Haste. 1st edition 1st issue 1880. Has Ballantyne’s signature pasted to front endpaper Post Haste, A Tale of Her Majesty’s Mails by R M Ballantyne. Has frontispiece, illustrated title page and 4 plates. viii, 424 pp and 16 pp publisher’s adverts. Dark brown endpapers, slip of paper, possibly from an envelope[?] with R M Ballantyne’s signature mounted to front pastedown. Endpapers cracked at hinge, a few joints strained but binding still firm, occasional marks and fox speckles. 8vo dark green cloth decorated and with vignette in gilt and black; some rubbing and minor wear at extremities, generally very good condition.
