A very good clean copy bound in contemporary half calf, marbled boards, gilt labels. Some rubbing to the binding, and evidence of the removal of a private book-plate. The plates are a selection of those listed in the Latin and English index. 4to. Orr and Smith. 1836. ~ Sir Joseph Paxton (1803-1865) was the head gardener to the Duke of Devonshire, and his Magazine, with its fine hand-coloured plates was one of the most popular and successful Victorian botanical periodicals. The text includes articles on greenhouses, fruit houses, and heating apparatus at Chatsworth; boxes & casks for preserving plants on sea voyages
