The First UK printing published by Martin Secker, London in 1929. Number '94' of 250 deluxe copies signed and hand-numbered by D.H. Lawrence. The BOOK is in near Fine condition. Striking printed decorative paper cover boards with a gilt-stamped vellum spine. Top edge gilt with others uncut. Slight toning to the spine in places. Internally some spotting to the prelims and text-block. Free from inscriptions and erasures. The WRAPPER is complete and is in Very Good++ or better condition. A little loss at the upper spine end with mild edge-wear and a few small closed tears. Some toning to the spine and edges with a little spotting in places, due the quality of paper stock used. The wrapper presents very well in the removable Brodart archival cover. The first publication of Lawrence' final book of poetry which was abridged on publication, having had 14 poems suppressed by Scotland Yard and subsequently excised from this edition. These 14 poems poems were subsequently included in a privately printed edition which was published later in the same year. Lawrence was to die the following year.
