Dealer Notes
This big picture book must have seemed like a shining light in the grim, grey days of the war. The colours are lovely, the illustrations are superb, Kathleen Hale drew them direct to the plate to be lithographed by W.S.Cowell. The first editions of several of the wartime Orlando books were published with thin card wraps due to it being a time of austerity and rationing – inevitably, the majority of surviving copies are somewhat worn – this copy does have some wear, but less so than many.
