1st Edition thus. Two volumes in cardboard slipcase. Volume One: Inscription, Preface by Dr. R. A. Sayce, Librarian of Worcester College, Oxford and Notes, by Bruce Alsopp (these include a Discussion of Inigo Jones and Palladiansim, Problems of Reproduction and History of the Transcription) and Transcription. Volume Two: Reproduction of the Worcester College copy of Palladio annotated by Inigo Jones. Inigo Jones (1573-1652) introduced the classical architecture of Rome and the Italian Renaissance to Britain. He travelled extensively throughout Europe and one of his greatest influences was the Italian architect, Andrea Palladio. The ‘Palladian’ style can be seen in several of Jones’ important London buildings, including The Queen's House in Greenwich, the Banqueting House in Whitehall, and St Paul's Church in Covent Garden.
