Book Description
Published by George Rainbird Ltd, London, 1957, special limited edition of 160 copies. Half vellum binding with marbled boards. Gilt lettering to spine. Contained within red slipcase with yellow label to front. Binding is by Zaehnsdorf of London. Folio, 17ins x 12.25ins, illustrated endpapers, 47pp plus 8 full page tissue guarded plates drawn by Charles Reynolds. The text content consists of "The Rose in Literature" by Blunt and "The Gallica Rose" by Russell. Apart from the binding the other differences of the first 160 copies from the remaining 2000 ( total print run 2160) are that both authors have signed this work and it has been printed on 'Amstel' special mould-made paper rather than 'Landmark' cartridge.Very slight yellowing of vellum in a couple of places but overall a lovely copy.
