Book Description
FIRST EDITION, FIRST ISSUE. 8vo, pp. [viii], 308: with the index published as pp. [vii-viii] (Kirkpatrick A12a). Grey striated cloth, purple stamped lettering and ruling. Slight bow to boards, gentle rubbing to bottom edge and extremities, bottom corner of rear board lightly bruised. Edges spotted. Prelims foxed, plus creeping occasionally into margins, offsetting to half-title, pp. 90-91, 166-177 & 308. In the original grey and navy-lettered dust jacket (mirroring the boards): spine sunned, barest nicking to head of spine and corners, light wear and creasing to top edge.
