Regretfully, due to Covid-19, we have decided to cancel our fairs up until the end of December.  However, at this stage, we cannot confirm if our London Christmas Fair will take place but we will keep you updated.
Book Description
The First UK printing published by Heinemann, London in 1965. The BOOK is in near fine condition with a little toning to the page edges and some offsetting to the blank end-papers. Pink top-stain still present and bright. Free from inscriptions and erasures. The WRAPPER is complete and is in Very Good+ condition. Mild edge-wear with a little loss at the upper spine end involving the rear upper edge. Toning to the spine and folds. Small closed tears to the upper front edge and the front lower spine fold with a 4cm closed tear to the lower rear flap fold. Some age related markings with two small rubbed spots to the lower front cover. The wrapper presents well in the remote Brodart archival cover. An exceptionally scarce title and Nelson Mandela's first book containing his famous speech at the Rivonia Trial; now regarded as among the greatest speeches ever given. His closing statement is captured for the first time in this volume that states, 'During my lifetime I have dedicated myself to this struggle of the African people. I have fought against White domination and I have fought against Black domination. I have cherished the ideal of a democratic and free society in which all persons live together in harmony and with equal opportunities. It is an ideal which I hope to live for and achieve, but if need be, it is an ideal for which I am prepared to die'. It was to be nearly thirty years later that 'A Long Walk To Freedom' was published. Only the second copy we have handled. Collectible.
