Dealer Notes
First edition of the first work on hypnotism. GM 4993: "Braid inaugurated modern hypnotism, the word itself being introduced by him. His theories were adopted by Broca, Charcot, Liebeault, and Bernheim; thus he founded the French School." Braid's life is fairly obscure, and I have not identified the James Gaskin to whom he gave this copy; but inscribed copies are uncommon
