Book Description

1997, small 4to, Dorset Natural History and Archeological Society, ppxiv + 95, green calf over green cloth boards in slipcase. A facsimile edition taken from manuscripts in the Dorset County Museum owned by Thomas Hardy Memorial Collection Trustees. No.6 of a limited edition of 157 copies containing an original autograph by Hardy. This book contains thirty-four of Hardy's Poems about Emma and his Cornish romance; the intention was to put together a collection of poems in Hardy's own hand prefaced by his own signature, and made possible by the discovery in the museum of 157 signed sheets.
