8vo. 4 volumes, set. First editions. Later cross-grained maroon full morocco with titles to spines and ‘R.H. More’ signature in gilt to each front board. Top edges gilt. Covers very slight rubbed at edges. Ink presentation inscription dated 1873 to half-title of volume 1. Frontispiece foxed and with paper repairs to the blank lower corner and edge. Occasional slight foxing. A near fine set.

Hannah More was a blue-stocking, philanthropist, anti-slavery campaigner, poet, playwright and member of the London circle including Johnson, Garrick and Reynolds.
