Book Description

Map of the County of Devon drawn from the topographical survey taken by the Honourable Board of Ordnance under the direction of Lt. Colonel Mudge and with permission reduced from the large scale map in eight sheets by a scale of one inch to two statute miles. Published by Faden, London 1816. On folding linen in 36 sections. Size 120 by 94 cm. Scale 2 inches to the mile. Includes inset maps of the environs of Plymouth with the harbour and of Lundy Island. Heights are shown by shading or hachuring. Some hand-colouring which includes the addition of a mineral railway on Dartmoor. Marbled endpapers rubbed and chipped to edges and a tape repair to the reverse of one fold. A very detailed map in Good condition, folding into the original slipcase. The case is rubbed but still sound and serviceable.
